May 8-9

We had a nice time at the CHAP Homeschool convention. Mom and Dad enjoyed hearing from speakers such as Doug Phillips, "Little Bear" Wheeler, and Dr. Jay Wile, to name a few. Drew even got to discuss nuclear chemistry with Dr. Wile. Us kids went to teen track workshops with Diana Waring a crazy lady that made it fun and Drew and Angie even got to do some acting. Drew got to see Aaron Patches who was in his cabin the Word of Life Island camp. We enjoyed having a picnic lunch with the Roses both days. We enjoyed having camp fires and playing on the play ground with our friends the Longacres while camping with them.

Miles Traveled 158.
Total Miles=158
Welcome to Tyler Travels 2009. This blog will document the Tyler family vacation to western US, in spring, 2009. This picture shows us starting out at our home in Harford, PA, on Thursday, May 7.
From left to right: Rachel (16), Terry, Angela (12), Jon, Andrew (14).
The plan is to take 6 weeks to see most of the national parks in the western states. Prior to leaving, we needed to:
- Finish homeschooling for the year, create portfolios, get evaluations, and meet with the school superintendent.
- Plow, mark, mulch, and otherwise prepare the garden to be planted, and plant the lettuce, potatoes, and onions. Thanks to Terry's dad, who has offered to plant the rest of the garden while we are gone.
- Settle our 2 1-year-old black labs in with Terry's parents, who live next-door.
Our first stop is the CHAP homeschool convention, in Harrisburg, which is Friday and Saturday (May 8-9).
